Trick-or-Treat Banner

I know this is a terribly fuzzy picture, sorry about that. This was taken on my husband's computer webcam, which I really don't know how to use! But I just had to share what I made this afternoon!

This banner says Trick Or Treat, and is so simple to make! I got the idea out of my Woman's Day magazine this month. This is the table by our front door, and I thought it would be perfect for our Halloween Party on Friday. On top of the table is the fall flower decoration that I made using flowers and things that I got at the dollar store. Also as you can see on the table are the Witches Brooms that my mother-in-law and her sister made for all of the kids coming to the party. I believe they got the directions for these from Martha Stuart.com. They are made out of paper bags, twigs, and candy of course! If I had more time I would add a little stamped tag, but I really don't seem to have any spare time these days!

Here are the directions for the banner:

1. Cut 2 1/2 x 6 in length of newspaper with pinking shears. Fold in half over string; glue or tape edges together at bottom.

2. Pink squares of black paper in slightly smaller size. Glue to top of newspaper strips.

3. Glue sparkly letters to surface. (I used my versamark pen, and my defining alphabet stamp set from Stampin' Up!, and then heat embossed using the white embossing powder for this.) It looks really cool on the black paper with the newspaper underneath. And, another added touch, some of the little cousins colored on this black cardstock with white crayon, it just adds another dimension to the banner, really cool looking in real life.

My 9 (almost 10 year old) son helped me make this today. He helped with the cutting and everything. So some of them aren't perfectly straight, but who cares? We are not perfectionists, well, we try not to be. And now I'll have a keepsake memory for years to come. When I pull this out every year I can ask him, " Do you remember when you helped me make this?"

I am so blessed to be home with my children every day, teaching them, and making precious memories. I can't think of anywhere else I would rather be, well, maybe on the beach in Florida with my family because it is so darn cold here today, and we have a lake effect snow watch for tonight! But we will be in Florida soon enough!!! We will be spending a whole month down there for the holidays~!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!! I better get more stamping done to share with you all while I am gone! Hope you are keeping warm!

Happy Stamping!
Jen
